I have what amounts to a completely blank toolbar above the menu bar (at the very top of the window). I have only noticed this happening in Firefox up to now. Any ideas?

In Firefox, Right click on a toolbar > on the list that comes up uncheck (or check) any toolbar you want to turn off (on)

Haven't tried that skin...but use newest FF and have never had issues with it skinning anything. I am actually using a skin made in 2003 and it skins perfectly..Do you have FF set to use default skin? ..hmmmm....someone may know

Ok. More information. It doesn't happen when Firefox is first started up, it only happens when I leave my machine for a while and the screen saver kicks in. When I log back in the blank toolbar has magically appeared.
It happens with every skin I have tried so far.

Follow Lantec's advice...hadn't thought about it but I use toolbars...but not ..I never have them checked marked..because I never like ALL of their features...I use an extension called toolbar icons...then when I add a toolbar I uncheck it...rightclick on the toolbar area & customize....then the elements of the toolbar are now available individually..for example all the separate buttons of googletoolbar...then I just place those buttons where ever I want.

I can't follow Lantec's advice because it isn't an actual toolbar it's just a blank space, but I like the sound of your recommended extension anyway MySecret.

What is normally in that space? ...you may have a corrupt *old toolbar...maybe one you had removed...If the toolbar ext doesn't solve it I would check via FireFox forums how to fix that. Another thing may to lean out your FireFox profile file....again check FireFox for that...I don't do it often so I do not have the details off the top of my head

Nothing, it's an extra space between the window title and the standard menu bar.

I can not remember the name but I saw an ext that allowed you to move the whole toolbar space ..gives you the same options that are available in Flashpeak slimbrowser meaning move the whole intact toolbar...alomst downloaded but didnt...saw it about 2 weeks ago so it would be avaiable......again may be a corrupt toolbar...check out the FF forums....
Let me know if you find a solution...

maxthegold,

did you find a solution? i am using firefox 2.0.0.3 and have the same issue, default theme...
on Apr 05, 2007
i changed the theme and that seemed to do the trick (i'm using blue ice), maxthegold, try that..

Yes I have changed the theme a number of times. It usually clears the problem for a while but it eventually comes back when the conditions are right. I haven't been able to nail down the exact combination of events that causes it, but it has just happened again to me this time while using the Alienware theme.
I haven't tried the Blue Ice theme yet I'll give it a go and see how I get on.
It's nice to know someone else has the problem though, for I while I thought it was just me.
